Peter Angelos, 94, Longtime Owner of the Orioles, Passes Away.

The Baltimore Orioles announced Saturday that longtime owner Peter Angelos died at 94. The Angelos family thanks doctors, nurses, and caregivers who helped Mr. Angelos in his final years for understanding as they honor that request. Instead of flowers, you can send donations to charity. In 1993, Angelos led a group of investors to purchase his hometown Orioles for a then-record $173 million from Eli Jacobs, a successful trial attorney. As a proud native of Baltimore, Peter Angelos deeply appreciated owning the Baltimore Orioles, MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred said in a statement. "Peter's lifetime of philanthropy greatly benefited numerous worthy causes throughout his hometown. He championed the Orioles' historic 1999 series with the Cuban National Team.
